Decades of investment in students and future leaders
For 30 years, the Foundation has been the charitable arm of Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors. Bill understood that educational opportunities and the art of advocacy are the great equalizers and will change the trajectory of every child.
Bill founded the Future Leaders Program (FLP) to provide enhanced educational programming, student mentorship, and college preparation to students in Dallas, Texas. The program helps expand educational opportunities and prepare students to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
Bill also created the International Public Policy Forum (IPPF), a unique global debate tournament that brings advanced written and oral debate to students from around the world. Through IPPF, students research, write, and debate issues that shape international public policy, amplifying student voices while developing skills in advocacy, critical thinking, and public discourse.
Two Programs, One Belief
FLP is a local program that helps Dallas students from seventh grade, up to their college career and beyond. IPPF is a global tournament that connects young advocates across continents. Together they express a single conviction that has guided Bill Brewer for three decades: the next generation of leaders is already out there, in every neighborhood and every nation, waiting only for someone to give them the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
The Future Leaders Program
The program spans middle school through graduation, and it has been free to every student since its founding. The results speak for themselves. One hundred percent of FLP graduates have been accepted to college. Alumni have earned more than $22 million in scholarship offers and have attended schools that include Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, Pomona, Colby and beyond. These students return home as lawyers, engineers, nurses, teachers, and leaders in the very communities that raised them.
The International Public Policy Forum
Long before Bill started one of the nation’s premier litigation firms, he was a young debater. Competitive debate gave him the tools that defined his career: rigorous research capability, disciplined oral argument skills, the ability to strategize, and the confidence to advocate with conviction. This experience also made him realize that excellent advocacy is a life-altering skill, and that the ability to debate effectively enables students to become leaders and hopefully change the world. Those lessons inspired Bill to create the IPPF, a global debate program that gives students the opportunity to develop these same skills through written and oral debate on issues of public policy.
