The Future Leaders Program
The Brewer Foundation’s Future Leaders Program (FLP) reflects Bill’s belief that every child should have access to the same educational opportunities and guidance. FLP is a partnership between the Dallas Independent School District, the sixteenth largest district in America, and four of Dallas’s leading private schools: the Episcopal School of Dallas, St. Mark’s, Greenhill, and Hockaday. Every Saturday during the school year, more than 200 students from Southern Dallas arrive at one of the partner private schools for a rigorous curriculum that blends academics, test preparation, college admissions support, and leadership development. Every class is co-taught by a public-school educator and a private school educator working side by side. The message to every student is unmistakable: you can achieve anything.
The program spans middle school through graduation, and it has been free to every student since its founding. The results speak for themselves. One hundred percent of FLP graduates have been accepted to college. Alumni have earned more than $22 million in scholarship offers and have attended schools that include Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, Pomona, Colby and beyond. These students return home as lawyers, engineers, nurses, teachers, and leaders in the very communities that raised them.
