The International Public Policy Forum

Long before Bill started one of the nation’s premier litigation firms, he joined his high school debate team. That decision sparked his lifelong passion for advocacy. Competitive debate challenged him to research deeply, develop strategy, make persuasive arguments, and advocate with conviction. The experience stayed with him throughout his career and shaped his belief that the ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and make a compelling case can open doors and create opportunities for young people.

The International Public Policy Forum (IPPF), founded by the Brewer Foundation and administered in partnership with NYU, is the first and only global high school competition that gives students the opportunity to engage in both written and oral debate on some of the most impactful public policy questions of our time.

Each year, IPPF brings together students from hundreds of schools across dozens of countries for months of written competition. The top eight teams advance to the world championship in New York City, where they compete for a $10,000 grand prize. Since its founding, more than 10,000 students from 49 countries have participated in the competition.
